Viewers – All about Document Viewers
The viewer (also called a visualizer) is a very practical digital viewing tool: it allows you to display any type of document via its camera on a computer, IWB or interactive screen. It is the ideal tool to accompany all your presentations, at school and in companies.
The viewers capture stunning colourful video at up to 30 frames per second in full HD quality.
On most models you can use the viewer without a computer or IWB: a simple video projector is all you need.
With digital or optical autofocus, the camera focuses automatically and the image is always sharp.

What is a viewer?
Sometimes called a viewer, the viewer is in a way the digital evolution of the overhead projector…but much more complete! Thanks to its camera, it allows you to capture and retransmit live objects, a photo, extracts from newspapers, books…
Because we sometimes need non-digital resources, it’s a very appreciated tool, especially at school, to show different objects on the big screen, and thus get everyone involved.
How does it work ?
Connected to a video projector or monitor, the viewer broadcasts the images it captures live, in the same way as a webcam – but with a host of additional functions. It can be attached to an interactive whiteboard or a computer to use and annotate the projected image directly.
Its flexible head makes it very easy to handle, and to view all types of documents from all angles.
Some models are equipped with a lamp or even a backlight, so that you can observe an object more clearly.
Mobile or desktop viewer ?
Two types of viewers are generally distinguished :
- Mobile viewers (preferred by schools)
- Desktop viewers (rather used in universities and companies)
The mobile viewer
Light, handy and very easy to use, the mobile viewer is totally adapted for classroom use. It allows to visualize any type of document very easily, with a great flexibility of use.
This makes it a very popular tool, especially among students, who can use it wirelessly.
The Desktop Viewer
The desktop viewer is more complete and more precise (zoom up to 2x higher), but also less handy and is more suitable for lecture theatres, universities and companies.
It is also more autonomous and benefits (for most models) from a backlit support, in order to project an X-ray or a transparency for example.
