Whiteboard and annotations modes

The whiteboard system lets you seamlessly use a REAL whiteboard with REAL pens, without ANY additional keyboard manipulation. You may also use a virtual whiteboard or even the projection wall as your whiteboard (see “Tablet, Whiteboard and Interactive modes” paragraph).

« Normal » or « Tablet PC » mode.

In Normal or Tablet PC mode (recommended), your mouse and your stylet are used to access the virtual whiteboard and to annotate your PowerPoint. In this mode, no eBeam system is connected to your PC (see below).

Whiteboard mode (separate)

The Eureki whiteboard system allows you to use a REAL whiteboard with real markers, without any additional keyboard manipulation.

In “separate” whiteboard mode, an eBeam system 3 kit is connected to your PC. This system can be instantaneously attached to any physical whiteboard and cantains 4 electronic markers and an eraser.

The first step consists in equipping your whiteboard with the eBeam system. Once the whiteboard is connected to your PC (by a USB or BlueTooth connection), you can proceed on with the different setup steps of your whiteboard (calibration and shortcuts) necessary to use your whiteboard.

Set up your whiteboard in Conference mode

Click on « Configuration » Image:6-38.jpg in order to configure all parameters for you presentation and click on “Whiteboard”. Three steps are necessary to setup your whiteboard.

  • check that your whiteboard has been detected
  • calibrate your whiteboard
  • calibrate your shortcuts

CALIBRATION OF YOUR WHITEBOARD

This operation allows to determine the size of your whiteboard. The Eureki system captures a whiteboard area up to 2,40m x 1,20m (8’ x 4’).

Click on the button “Calibration eBeam” and follow the indicated instructions to set up your whiteboard.

The software will ask you first in which corner of the whiteboard you have placed the eBeam receiver.

You have then finished the setup of your whiteboard.

If you have an error message during the calibration of the eBeam whiteboard, check the connection of your whiteboard (connection USB or BlueTooth). Check also whether the markers you use to define the corners are working.

You can also use the features of the Eureki white board without the eBeam whiteboard material. Thus, you dispose of a simple electronic whiteboard to draw on your PC with or without a graphic tablet.

Configuration of your Shortcut Strip

The Shortcut Strip is very useful because you don't need to interrupt your presentation. Simply tap on the sticker and everything written on the board is saved.

The Shortcut Strip adheres to the whiteboard without adhesive so it can be placed anywhere on the whiteboard.

Click on “Sticker calibration” to calibrate your shortcuts and follow the indications given on your screen. When the two corners of your sticker are detected (begin with the top left corner), the button OK will appear. Click on it and your sticker is calibrated.

The shortcut strip has 3 functions (see chapter “How to use Eureki”)

  1. Return to PowerPoint
  2. Erase the whiteboard
  3. Print

How to use the whiteboard (Eureki) in Conference mode

It is extremely easy to use Eureki in Conference mode. No keyboard manipulation is necessary.

To access your whiteboard, just start writing on the board during any of your Speechi Conference sessions. Your action is automatically detected and your screen switches to the whiteboard.

Your voice continues to be recorded. All your movements on the whiteboard are recorded (4 color markers and an eraser).

Once you have finished to use the whiteboard, you can return to Speechi Conference (the whiteboard will be closed).
- either tap on the PowerPoint icon of the Shortcut Strip on your whiteboard (recommended)
- or click on the “stop” button of the Eureki software (less natural method, only to use in case you don’t have the Shortcut Strip)

If you have a Speechi version lower than 2.5, the PowerPoint logo has not been printed on your Shortcut Strip, BUT the PowerPoint shortcut exists. It is located above your sticker, at about the place of the eBeam logo. While your Eureki/Speechi presentation is played in Flash, the animations of the whiteboard will replace the PowerPoint slides each time the whiteboard has been used.

Your whiteboard will stay permanently and will not be erased without your orders during your Conference session. You can return to the whiteboard whenever you want without losing your drawings. To erase your whiteboard , either use our electronic eraser or the button “new screen” on the Shortcut Strip.

Interactive Mode

In Interactive mode, you can manipulate and annotate your PowerPoint right from the projection screen !

Using the eBeam Interactive kit, you can project your PowerPoint presentation to the wall, and then annotate, draw, write on your presentation from the projected screen, without touching your keyboard or your mouse  !

A projector, a screen, eBmea Interactive system and Eureki licence are needed to use this mode.

First install eBeam Interactive software

You should install eBeam Interactive software before using the Speechi Interactive mode. This piece of software is on the eBeam CD contained in the eBeam Interactive pen box.

When software has been installed, just run it. An menu appears in the Windows bar, when you right click on eBeam icon Image:7-8.jpg (see below) .

Ebeam software uses eBeam own interactive wheel, which is not needed when using Speechi. To avoid having 2 wheels when using Speechi (which could be confusing), just untick the “Interactive Tools” menu line in eBeam menu (see below).
