Post synchronizing your existing videos with PowerPoint

Global Video ImportThe Smart Mode is the quickest way to synchronize a video with your PowerPoint, provided your video has been filmed while you were showing you Powerpoint (using Speechi) to your audience. In many cases, this is just not the case. For instance, you may have a video handy that was filmed some time earlier and now that you have heard of Speechi powerful video features, you want to show your video synchronized with your PowerPoint.

This tends to happen often in Universities where lots of classes have already been filmed - but of course the Powerpoint content as such has not been processed yet.

In this case, you should use Speechi Simple Import mode. Speechi Simple Import mode lets you quickly synchronize your video with each slide - and with each slide’s transition. It is not a "One Click" mode like the Smart Mode, however, it allows rapid and efficient video / PowerPoint post-synchronization.

Make sure the video you have is in FLV format (How do I obtain a video in FLV format ?)

Open PowerPoint. In the Speechi menu, select Import Global Video

Click on the import button and pick up the file to import

Click on the Simple Import Button, and once video has been imported, click Exit

Video Import

Click on the Resource button in the Speechi Toolbar (2nd from right).
The screen below opens. You should see a list of all the slides on the left,
and probably nothing else in all the other rows (if you have not made any attenpt to record a slide so far).

To synchronize the first slide, double-click the sound icon.

Make sure Global video is checked

For the first slide, either drag the left and right handles to
indicate the beginning and ending part of the video for the 1st slide, or
actually type the time in seconds and milliseconds, followed by "Go".

When done, click OK, and Exit

Video Sync

From the Resource grid again, double-click on the Sound #2 square,
and again, enter the beginning and ending timings for the 2nd slide. Most
likely the beginning time of slide 2 should be the same as the ending time of
slide 1.If this is the case, you will have continuous video playback in Speechi (If not the case, you may encouter rebuffering delay necessary to position the video at teh beginning of slide 2).

Continue with all the slides until you reach the end.

Note that you do not have to synchronize all slides with the video. You may very well decide to sync only some of the slides (the remaining ones can be sync’ed with just audio, if you think this is quicker or better to do so).

Internal transitions.

In PowerPoint, your slides can have internal transitions. with Speechi, it is easy to synchronize these transitions with your video.

Open the resource grid again, click on the "Camera" icon and click on "Resync" button for the slide you want to sync.

The slide shows in the PPT viewer. In addition, The Speechi wheel shows and the video plays on top of it.

Wheel

You just have to click on the left and right arrows in the Speechi wheel to progress in the PowerPoint, while the video plays. That’s it ! The Speechi is in sync !

You may also use the annotations feature (Speechi Pro only) if you want to annotate your PowerPoint in sync with the video.

To check the results at any time, click the Browse button (right-most
button in the toolbar), and your browser will play the Flash file with your
video.
