Podcasting with Speechi 3.0
A podcast lets you create a list of audio files that users and students can subscribe to. When you update this list (what you can do automatically with Speechi 3.0), students automatically download or access the updates and can listen to them via iTunes or any RSS reader.
To publish a Speechi podcast, you first need to create a Speechi Conference or Speechi Studio presentation that contains some sound.
There are 2 ways to access Podcast features in Speechi:
- click on the Podcast tab in Configuration window (
).
- or click on Podcast icon in Speechi toolbar
If you access to Podcast through the Podcast tab, you will get the information below, and you should click on “Publish” to proceed.
Present streams are usually associated with class modules. The information below shows that you are maintaining 2 podcast streams: one for Speechi 101 class and one for Marketing 101 class. Each class is made of several sessions - perhaps you teach once a week - and each session corresponds to a mp3 file (may be about 1 hour of teaching you delivered with Speechi).

After clicking on “Publish”, a new window appears. If you want to add a new podcast flow, just enter its new name, otherwise, if you just want to add a new session (i.e. a new Speechi recording) to an existing class module, select it in the existing flows and all students that have registered to your podcast will be automatically informed that a new class has been made available to them.
If they use iTunes, this new session will automatically be uploaded to their PC or their IPOD and they may listen to it whenever they want.

If you are creating a new podcast flow, you will see have the ability to enter all tag information related to your podcast :
Summary (optional): what people see when they have susbcribed to your podcast
Categories (optional) : You may choose up to 3 categories and sub-categories. This will show if you register your podcast in Apple iTunes Music Store (available categories are iTunes’ existing labels).
Copyright (optional): Contains your Copyright statement.

Click on “Next” to go on.
The podcast is created and all necessary files are sent to your FTP server. (Default FTP server is Speechi demo server, which is online for demo purposes. You should never rely on our server to backup your data, as we regularly wipe out all existing files).

After transferring your podcast, a window showing the podcast RSS link appears. This is the link you should give to your students so they subscribe. You may also (typically) publish this link on your or register it into iTunes Music Store to propose your content on a free or paid basis.
